Important Information To Consider When Moving To South Africa
Most people will be granted duty-free entry for their household goods and effects if their removal goods consist of used household effects that have been in the owner’s use and possession abroad for at least one year and will keep on being used by the owner in their new residence.
The following is required to complete customs clearances of your effects, please forward through clear copies to our office.
- DA 304 and P.1.160
- Permanent Residence Document or Temporary residence permit with work permit
- Copy of the photo page of your passport (original will be required in South Africa)
Clients must have arrived in South Africa at least 2 weeks before the expected arrival of their effects. Original documents will be required in ZA, copies to OSS only.
There may also be additional documentation that you will be required to provide at the destination to achieve duty-free entry for your shipment. Whilst you are not required to provide this documentation to us at this time, please ensure you read and fully understand the requirements. If you do require further clarification or foresee any difficulties in obtaining the required documentation, please let me know and I will arrange for our destination partner to contact you directly to discuss.
