Moving To Switzerland –
What You Need To Know

Important Information To Consider When Moving To Switzerland (Shared Container)

Our shared containers into Europe are shipped via The Netherlands or Belgium. Meaning a less complicated clearance on arrival.

For consignments that are part of the European Union/Schengen zone the below documents are required: 

  • Copy of the passport;
  • Copy of the packing list;
  • Delivery Access Form.

Switzerland is a Non EU country so the document requirements for GRP and Sole use are the same. This is the case for all NON-EU countries that we do groupage to.

Some additional documents are required for Switzerland which our destination partner will gather from you,

Expected time path for handling and delivery of shared container shipments to Europe;

  • Releasing container from shipping line and transport to our warehouse: 2 – 3 days.
  • Deconsolidation of container at our warehouse: 2 – 4 days.
  • Import clearance if we have received your import paperwork on time: 3 – 5 days
  • Once cleared time frame of delivery to your residence is 2 to 4 weeks for normal EU destinations.
  • Outlying and long-distance destinations might take somewhat longer.

Important Information To Consider When Moving To Switzerland

  • Swiss Customs form 18.44 (Original Only, no copies)* Copy of a lease or property title for Swiss residence
  • Copy of the photo page of your passport & any applicable visas/permits
  • Apart from the above there is further documentation required depending on your citizenship:

Additional for returning Swiss and immigrants from the 25 EU countries:

  • Copy of registration certificate from the local town hall.

Additional for foreign non-EU immigrants:

  •  A copy of the residence permit or approval letter from the local immigration department. “Zusicherung der Aufenthaltsbewilligung” / “Ermächtigung zur Visumerteilung”.

There may also be additional documentation that you will be required to provide at the destination to achieve duty-free entry for your shipment. Whilst you are not required to provide this documentation to us at this time, please ensure you read and fully understand the requirements.
