Important Information To Consider When Moving To Thailand

Duty-free entry for Used Household goods and personal effects but only 1 small air shipment and 1 sea shipment.

Household effects under 6 months old are subject to duties.

Personal effects must be imported no earlier than 1 month before arrival and not later than 6 months after arrival of the importer.

Without a 1-year work permit, foreign nationals will be subject to duty.

Documents required:

  • Non-immigrant or Residence Visa (valid for one year)
  • Work Permit (if available) valid for one year
  • Copy of the photo page of your passport

Originals of the above documents will be required in Thailand before shipment arrival.

To qualify for duty-free status:

  • Returning Thai residents must have lived abroad for more than 12 months.
  • Must have their Thai Passport stamped from Thailand and arrive at their destination and vice versa.
  • Thai customs must see an immigration entry and exit stamp in the shipper’s passport.

IMPORTANT Do not go through the electronic line when the ship arrives at Suvarnabhumi International Airport
Too frequent travelling back and forth can cause problems should customs deem the owner to have been permanently based in the origin country. Each stay in Thailand must not be more than three months each time

There may also be additional documentation that you will be required to provide at the destination to achieve duty-free entry for your shipment. Whilst you are not required to provide this documentation to us at this time, please ensure you read and fully understand the requirements. If you do require further clarification or foresee any difficulties in obtaining the required documentation, please let me know and I will arrange for our destination partner to contact you directly to discuss.
